Aussie actor Hugh Jackman has uploaded another post to social media showing the evidence of another skin cancer treated on his nose.
“Another basal cell carcinoma. Thanks to frequent body checks and amazing doctors, all is well. Looks worse with the dressing on than off. I swear! #wearsunscreen”
The Wolverine star has now had 6 BCC’s treated over the last few years and has been actively promoting skin cancer awareness and the importance of protecting your skin from UV sun damage. Basal cell carcinoma is the most common type of skin cancer and not as dangerous as melanoma or squamous cell carcinoma. If detected at an early stage BCC’s can be treated non-invasively with topical creams or photodynamic therapy, but if it is diagnosed as nodular or invasive BCC, then it will require a surgical excision.
So take Hugh’s advice and keep up with your regular skin checks to pick up these common skin cancers at the earliest stage.
